Yesterday I did something I’ve never done before which was take down my tree before the holiday break ended.
​
Usually I leave it up until closer to the end of the month (and sometimes longer if my husband doesn’t squawk too much) but one of my lovely readers wrote to tell me that the tree, decorations and cards must come down on twelfth night or you’ll have bad luck for the rest of the year.
​
If there’s one thing about me which you may not know is that I’m more than a little bit superstitious and will always go out of my way to avoid bad luck if at all possible.
​
However, the details were a little fuzzy about which day the 12th day of Christmas falls under. The Church of England goes by January 5th while others declare it’s the 6th. And if you’re Roman Catholic, you can keep your tree up until February 2nd.
​
It’s also bad luck to take your tree down too early so there’s some food for thought for the early birds who have their tree gone by December 26th.
​
If you still haven’t taken down your tree, well, depending on where you are in the world and what your beliefs are, there’s still time to take it down, or leave it up.
​
We compromised and took all the decorations down and I left my husband to put the tree away today.
​
The reason the decorations and tree needs to be taken down is that in days of old, it was believed that tree spirits lived in the decorations used to deck the halls, like holly and ivy. Failing to release the tree back to the wild was believed to bring bad luck. However, since we have an artificial tree, I don’t think there’s any need to worry about angering the tree spirits.
​
At the very least, hubby is happy that the tree won’t be up until next month and I’m feeling proud of myself for being so industrious – regardless of where I received my motivation from. 😆

A seamless pattern is an image that, if you repeat vertically and/or horizontally, matches perfectly creating an endless repeat where you are not able to identify the original tile or seam. They are usually created from individual illustrations, combined with a background like the ones pictured below.

What can you do with those patterns?

You can use them as background for books, digital presentations, any digital products, as part of your branding, turn them into physical products like fabric, wallpaper or stationery… but you can also sell them to other creators in online marketplaces.
